• Location requirement (e.g. must be in UK or USA)
• Is it full / part time employment OR contract OR freelance (NOTE that employment is NOT the same as contract)
• Whether it's on site or remote or hybrid, and if Hybrid, a clear percentage of on-site requirement)
• Timezone requirement (e.g. Must be in CET timezone)
• Visa requirements
• Has any language requirements ( e.g. "English but German highly regarded" - this way we know it's a waste of time to apply if we don't speak German too, since in my experience at least, a German speaker was always chosen in the last round)
• Salary - At LEAST a range to within 20% (e.g. €90k - €120k depending on experience - again so we can avoid applying if your expectations are unrealistic)
Sadly, everyone leaves out this important information
Good designers don't have the time or energy to chase you up about any of this
For applicatnts, it's absolutely infuriating to get to the END of a job application and THEN be asked if you have the 'required visa' for the job when often no mention of visa was even made in the ad, so you have NO way of knowing what visa is even meant, AND it's now obvious that you've probably wasted your time....
It's just completely unprofessional that in 2025 people are not even starting the conversation with these essentials and THEN recruiters complain that they're inundated with applications.
THIS IS WHY PEOPLE - you are not communicating effectively.
• The interview process summarised (e.g. 3 interviews)
• Do you expect any free work to be done (a.k.a. a Design challenge - many designers & programmers are sick to death of these, personally I don't even bother applying for jobs that expect this. Here's why...)
